First stop Aberdeen, SD June 2019

Pictures to come soon:
So much to catch up on.  I will try to make it as short as possible.
We took off from our home on June 8 for the last time.  Five days later, it was official that our house closed.  It was a nightmare that I just don’t want to revisit anymore.  We had a lot of snags with the selling of the house, but we did what we had to do to just get it done so we could move forward.  I guess that is enough of that topic.

We took our time getting to Gail and Mark’s house in Hermosa and stayed about 36 hours.  Then we went to Aberdeen to stay 2 weeks with a little family reunion in between in Huron.  We stayed at Wylie in Aberdeen and had to leave for a couple of days on the weekend where we stayed at the fairgrounds.  That was interesting.  We had a lot of “weather” that we aren’t used to.  Bella and Patches were scared of the thunder and the rain on the roof of the RV.  Talula was fine with it.  Many nights Bella would go to Mike’s side of the bed and cry and then come up and lay between us shivering.  Thunder spray didn’t work.  We loved the thunderstorms and rain as we didn’t get that in California for over 20 years!  While we were in Aberdeen, we got our driver licenses and changed our address to Hermosa.  We are South Dakota residents again!  That is so weird to us, but was a little comforting going back to our roots.  In Aberdeen we also went off the wagon and ate crap we hadn’t eaten in a very long time.  Mike discovered Pizza Ranch and was in heaven there.  Of course, he had to make many stops at Twist Cone for BBQs and ice cream.  That is a tradition J.  Fortunately for him, he got a month pass to the YMCA to work out and spent a lot of time there.  I think he fared better than I did in the overall eating/weight department, but we have gotten back on the wagon almost now.  Mike was happy to spend so much time with his mom.  We had some fun dinners out with her and Pat and always enjoy visiting with them.  We decided we will stay closer to a month next summer and the summers ahead so that we can actually have some time to settle in and live a bit.  It isn’t fun packing up and leaving so often. I can already tell that isn’t going to be fun for us.  Also while we were in Aberdeen, we walked around the NSU campus and reminisced about where we met there and things we did.  It has changed so much but our memories are still very vivid which I am grateful for.
