End of July 2019 Newport, Oregon
Pics coming:
Our first week flew by. We just tried to figure out how long
we have been here and it has been 8 days.
Wow. That is the fastest 8 days I
can remember in a long time. When I try
to think about what we have done this past week all I can really remember is a
lot of working. We are both working full
time plus this summer, so we haven’t been able to really enjoy summer like we
would like to. Having said that, we know
how fortunate we are to have the jobs we do so we try not to complain. Today we did an experiment. We pottied the pups and put them and the cat
into the bedroom with water, TV, air conditioning, and closed the
windows/shades. There were lights on so
we could see them on the camera, but they were closed into the back 1/3 of the
RV so they couldn’t bark at people passing by.
Mike and I wanted to have some time alone without them being our #1 focus. We went to Depoe Bay and watched a couple
whales and then had lunch at the brewery on the harbor. I was worried the entire time and emailed my
neighbor to ask her if 1. The RV had burned down and 2. Are the dogs in the front window? She assured me that neither was the
case. You’d think that would be enough
for me. No. I still worried. We were gone about 90 minutes total and when
we returned they were alive and well. We
are just going to have to do this periodically and slowly add a bit of time so
they can get used to having a few hours a day to rest without us having to be
with them. Patches was konked out in her
cat bed so I think she was fine. I’d
like to think they all just laid down and slept. Our camera wasn’t connecting so we couldn’t
check. Ugh.
With Lula having a torn ACL, Bella isn’t able to get the
exercise she needs, so we have to go separately and let her run on the beach
and get her energy out while Lula rests outside the RV or inside if it is too
chilly or rainy. So far we haven’t had rain
so it has been pure Heaven here. The
temps are around 68-70. Mike is now
saying that it is possible this will be our home someday. He loves the weather, water, and
scenery. We are close enough to the
girls for them to feel like we are not so far away, yet not so close that we
are in their space/business. If we ever
stay in Portland we can do our own thing unless they want to hang out. We are both Cancers and love the water too
much to live full time in a big city.
Visiting will have to do.
