Pre-Full Time Journey
(Donna) We were officially kicked out of our home on April 20, 2019 so our realtor could film the house and make a video for our listing. We finally got out of town at around 1 pm and made it to central California the first night. We stayed at a rest stop and watched a new Live PD episode on the satellite. There is nothing better than having live TV when you are traveling! We couldn't make it through the show and shut it down early. We actually slept through the night. I got up before Mike and walked the dogs around outside so they could potty. The cat hid under the chair when we were moving, but would pop out the minute we shut the engine off. We got up and ate breakfast and headed North to Oregon. We stayed at the Seven Feathers rest stop, which is a favorite of Mike's because the diesel is cheaper and there is a huge grassy area for the dogs to run and play. Talula and Bella are the only dogs we have left now and we talked about how much we miss Kobe, Smush, and Blitzen and the times we would travel with them.
When we woke up after another good night's sleep, we drove to Newport and got here around noon today. It was weird seeing this place so cleared out. Our neighbor Judy said that there are 31 owners here right now, but there must be some renters too. Regardless, it is pretty empty compared to what we are used to. We even have a view of the ocean in a few spots from the left side of the RV. I bet if we were here in mid winter we would have a nice view of the ocean. Maybe one day we will know. Right now we don't know where we will go or what we will do. Our house will go up for sale on Saturday and hopefully it will get snapped up quickly. I can't believe how great it looks right now. I keep trying to stop myself from being sad that I am leaving my dream home. We realize that in order for it to stay like it is now, we would need to work full time on keeping it cleaned and landscaped. It is a project for sure. Coming here today was like a breath of fresh air. The weather was just perfect. Now it is raining but we love it. Check back with me on that in a few months. Our plan is to be here mid July through November but that doesn't mean we will. Right now we just want to try and slow down, especially once the house sells and we are unencumbered with so many things.
